Amy and Amir's Engagement Shoot

Awhile back, during the early spring, I found out that two of my friends got engaged, and I was so excited that they selected me to shoot their engagement photos.  We decided to meet at Gasworks Park, which is one of my favorite places to shoot, and then head over to the University of Washington campus.  The day turned out to be sunny and beautiful, although a bit chilly still.  As I was getting some shots of the couple in front of Lake Washington, they were backlit, which is one of my favorite effects, and I checked some of the shots and they looked so cute that I actually squealed, at which point Amir said, "Did you say eeeeeee?"  It was pretty great.  Anyway, the shoot was a lot of fun because of the weather, the sun, and the fact that Amy and Amir are themselves a fun couple.  Afterwards we did make it over to the UW campus, just when the light was golden.  I could not wait to get home and start looking through the day's photos and get to editing them.  I have lots of favorites from this session, but I'll limit the number that I insert in this post.  Check 'em out:

Malia's Maternity

When my friend Malia was pregnant we got together for her maternity shoot at Greenlake. It was a beautiful, sunny spring day and the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. We were very excited to take advantage of such gorgeous backdrops that nature had provided. And we weren't disappointed. The soft, floaty, pale pink blossom backdrop looked so great in each shot without distracting from the main subject-Malia's lovely pregnancy glow, the belly bump and the excitement of the sweet new parents to-be. I love how the shots of Malia turned out, so natural and gentle, and the shots of Malia and David are so perfectly them-some are goofy, some are so tender. It was a great day!
