First Official Wedding Shoot-Nich and Lise

When I first started my photography business, I just wanted to shoot families and babies, engagements and pregnancy.  I did not want to shoot weddings.  It seemed way too stressful to me.  But then I was contacted by a super sweet gal who was asking if I would be interested in photographing her wedding.  I thought about it for a bit.  I'm so glad that I said yes, because it was the best experience for my first official wedding shoot. Lise's wedding was a backyard wedding, but actually I was surprised by the number of guests that were in attendance!  It was a beautiful sunny day, and everyone there was so incredibly friendly.  Lise and her family were so welcoming and kind, by the end of the day I felt completely comfortable.  It didn't hurt that all of the bride and groom's friends and family were fun, encouraging, and easy going, oh and that most everyone there is super talented.  For example, the bride's dad and brother played music for the reception, as well as a special violin performance by a friend.  The experience was completely the opposite of what I had feared about wedding photography; easy to work with bride, groom, and bridal party; cute, well behaved kids; loving parents and family; supportive and kind friends.  There was so much love at this wedding, the bride and groom are truly blessed.  I feel so thankful that this ended up being the first wedding I booked as a photographer.  So, here are some of my favorite shots from Nich and Lise's beautiful day:

Luke and Jennifer Family photos

So back when my niece was not quite a year old, my brother and sister in law asked to do some family photos and I was thrilled of course because they are my favorite and Lucy was the cutest thing I've ever seen.  They met me at Gasworks Park and it was a gorgeous sunny day outside.  Now, this can pose its own problems because the harsh sunlight can cause weird shadows on faces among other things.  But, we were able to find some shade, I also utilized some fill flash and sometimes I just shot right into the sun for a different kind of style of picture.  We also drove back over to Greenlake and the light was really soft and nice.  As I was editing the photos I was getting so excited because so many of the shots turned out so well, mostly because all three of them are super photogenic.  Here are some of my favorite shots from the day:
One of the first shots of the session.  Hello, how gorgeous are these people?

They look so model-y

I actually really love the sun glares in photos

This is probably my favorite shot of the session

My brother really wanted me to take a shot like this, of him holding the baby up like Simba from Lion King
Beautiful!

He loves his little girl!

So there you go.  It was a fun shoot because they are my family, andI loved how the photos turned out.
